Banner Elk is a quaint small town that sits between Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain in the High Country of North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A little over 2 hours from the Charlotte airport, 3 hours from Knoxville TN and less than an hour from the Tri City Airport in Johnson City TN. Home to Appalachain State University….almost 18,000 students.

Banner Elk is only 7 miles from the TN line way up in the Northwestern corner of North Corlina, just a few miles from Bristol VA . Banner Elk has some incrediable mountains, first rate theatres, remember we have Lees McRae College right in downtown Banner Elk. We are home to the famous Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls and the Tweetsie Railroad, a favorite for families.

If you come in the summer there is so much to do here. You can take long walks, mountain hikes, biking, and you can watch the sunsets over mountains. or enjoy our summer concerts in the park. But if you are really adventerous you can go white water rafting, canoeing, zip lining, golfing and water skiing at our own Watagua Lake. There is something for everyone.

In the winter we are host to 4 ski resorts. Beech Mountain, a city in itself with its own club and golf course, is almost at a 6000 feet elevation has outdoor ice skating, sledding and 15 slopes with one of the fastest lifts aound. Beech Mountain is usually is 10-15 degrees colder than down in Banner Elk, which has an elevation of about 3400 ft. Visit www.skibeech.com

Sugar Mountain is another favorite with a great downhill skiiing, childrens slope, snow tubing. and lots of winter activities. We have Jonas Tubing, a fun place for families to go tubing and Appalachain Ski Resort outside of Boone. Hawks Ridge is located at Seven Devils and does night tubing as well. Always something going on.

Fine dining and some of the best wine list around. Plus we have our very own Banner Elk Winery open to the public. Lots of culture in this small quaint town……

This is just a taste of what you can fall in love with. More to come.

Visit www.homesinthehighcountry.com to find out more about our beautiful piece of the High Country.

Just hot off the press is a report from NAR (National Association of Realtors)Blowing Rock has continued to see sales in their area while Beech Mountain, Banner Elk and Sugar Mountain have seen a slowdown. Right now there are more homes for sale on Beech Mountain than ever before. With new townhome and /villas being built and some already completed ,we now have a flood of offereings for buyers. Unfortunately the prices are still not attractive enough to get them to contract.

We are seeing many developers pulling out or holding off on their projects until the market rebounds. For the buyers willing to get in the amrket there are some very good buys.

Bear Run in Banner Elk, is one of those developments that can offer a buyer a lot for their money. Visit www.homesinthehighcountry.com to see virtual tour.

The Cottages in downtown Banner ELk has one townhome #22, that is listed at $289,900 less than the buyer paid. Has always had good rental hisitory and its location is perfect for the buyer who wants to be close to town.

Call AJ Fischer for more information on how you can find a home in todays market. 828-898-1999.
